Musical Analysis: Lady Gaga's Born This Way

Author's Note

Today I am feeling particularly musical, so I have decided to write this hub about Lady Gaga's: Born This Way.

Introduction

At first I did not like this song, as I do not like any songs by Lady Gaga the first time I hear them. I hated Bad Romance, simply for the message that it sent out, and I thought the music was 'clashing' together. However, after about a month of listening to it, both on my ipod and on the car radio, it began to grow on me. In fact, I am listening to it right now.

Lady Gaga- Born this Way

Born this Way

First, the lyrics start off by saying, "it doesn't matter if you love him, or capital H-I-M", which I found strange. Why would it not matter if you love Him, God? Her next, saying, "because you were born this way baby," had me equally confused.

The introduction to her song paints a picture of Gaga as a girl. In this picture Gaga's mother is dolling her up, but says to Gaga that we are all born superstars. I feel that it means we are all destined to do great things, if we choose to. We are all born equal, that is to say, human.

This song is actually quite inspirational, and if I may say, uplifting. It is full of uplifting lyrics and encourages people to just be themselves. That it doesn't matter what anyone else thinks about you, because you are born this way and perfect. Which, when you think of it in a philosophical standpoint, makes sense.

The idea that everyone is on their own right track, if they love themselves and live without regret makes perfect sense. If people live without regret, it will eliminate many stressors and prevent people from holding themselves back. Loving yourself is also a great philosophy to have, when you love yourself you are confident and can feel empowered.

So, is Lady Gaga also a philosopher, on top of being a singer and dancer?

Great hub! I think Gaga is following in Madonna's footsteps. Both are incredibly smart business women with amazing talent as singers, song-writers and dancers! How lucky are they? I'm sure there is a lot of hard-work mixed in with their innate skills too. Good luck with the novel.

Great hub on Born This Way. I wasn't a gaga fan at first but she reeled me in by listening to what the person had to say before the artist. Up/Awesome!!

Yes, Lady Gaga's song does sound similar to "Second Best" by Madonna, I agree. But, both are good artists, in my opinion.

Thanks for the comment! And Happy Hubbing. :)
